For conducting these tasks satisfactorily, computer center make use of a wide range of computer facilities. The institute has chosen a system based on work stations under Windows, Linux, which provide the interconnection and exchange of data between the various systems and enable us to provide our users with working environments adapted to their requirements and the students with tools reflecting the standards of the computer industry.

Recently the institute has received grant to strengthen central computing facility, to ensure state-of-the art data and voice connectivity to students, faculty and staff; it is proposed to have maximum of 2 Mbps leased line internet connection, servers and nodes. The Common data services for office automation, information systems will be developed in the institute very shortly.

The Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology visualizes centralized computing facility, campus wide networking and information technology as a means to enrich the educational experience and invigorate emerging areas of scholarly research and education. Telecommunication and IT is a mixture of tools that can improve the nature and efficiency of country and institute as well.

It has been known that the Computer Communication and Information Technology is no longer a special area, limited to certain disciplines. This technology enhances every discipline of curriculum. The upgradation of classrooms, computer facilities and even our hallways indicates a pervasive technology presence.

Keeping in view the above objectives the institute proposes to provide state-of-the-art networks, instructional computer labs, special-purpose equipment, media production facilities, and technology rich classrooms. Institute has a professional interdisciplinary faculty and staff to support and maintain the central computational facilities and services. National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar is committed to provide centralized computational and computer communication worldwide to keep pace with changing interdisciplinary research technologies and learning methodologies.
