Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology concluded the 24-hour National level event “NITJ@HACK", the NIT Hackathon which was onset post the inaugral ceremony held on 21 September 2019 in the campus premises. It witnessed massive participation of top 32 teams nationwide out of registered 150+ teams composing of more than 750+ students which were selected on the basis of idea submission after the preliminary online round. The theme of hackathon revolved around "Smart Campus" and targeted solutions for the most daunting problems faced worldwide.
The closing ceremony after the completion of 24-hour grand mega event event witnessed the presence of Director of the institute Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi, Dr. S.K Mishra Registrar, Esteemed panel of judges consisting of Prof. Jatinder Chhabra, Professor NIT Kurukshetra, Mr. Koushik K Founder and CEO Egnaro Software Solutions and Ms. Aastha Sayal from Gaia Solutions Gurugram (Alumni of NIT Jalandhar), Media personnel, organizing team of faculty members and students, participants from various institutes Nationwide along with their mentors along with the distinguished faculty members and students of the institution.
Director Prof. L K Awasthi congratulated the organizing team and the participants for the great success of the event. He also announced the next Hackathon to be held on the same date in the campus, the very next year, magnifying the event to be on an extensive large scale by collaborating with a number of institutes in order to expand the participation by tenfold of present, providing the gateway to great opportunities like support for the best perceived ideas by the TBI of NITJ to implement real time solutions, amazing offers to work with multinational organizations and a lot more on the way. The main aim is to provide a national level single platform for innovation and change to the most daunting problems faced nowdays. He also specified to increase the cash prize four times from the present Rs.50,000 to Rs.2 lakh the next year for the top winners along with increased other opportunities for the best perceived ideas. He visualize to make this event the North-India's most widely organized Hackathon witnessing immense participation nationwide.

The participants evaluated rigorously by a panel of expertise judges after the 24-hour submission of the final solution of the shortlisted teams. The best ideas are expected to be offered with great opportunities like direct idea acceptance by the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of NITJ to support in implementing the real time solutions, grand offers to work with companies like Amazon, ION etc. along with grand cash rewards worth Rs.50,000 by NITJ to top 3 winners and exciting goodies for the best perceived ideas.
The main reason for this event to be a success is the planning that goes behind it. Immense gratitude for the Director of the institute for putting his foot forward to such an event of national level at a large scale witnessing extensive participation nationwide.
