Society of Mechanical Engineers (SOME)                                                                                                               

Society of Mechanical Engineers was established in 1993. It has membership strength of around 140.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Society are:

• To raise and maintain high standard of education by interaction.
• To establish relationship with industry for the benefit of students.
• To establish and maintain contact among students, teaching staff and industry not only at the regional level but also at the national level.
• To organize national level technical workshops /seminars /conference /symposiums, exhibitions etc. for upgrading the technical knowledge of students.

Activities

The Society has been promoting interaction among the industry, students and the Institute to enhance the cause of technical education. The Society has arranged several industrial visits and conducted various seminars, lectures and workshops from time to time. Some of these are: Silsila 95, Sueiz96, Yantriki 97, Yantriki 99, Questra 2001 and Yantriki 2002.
