About

About

Though women are underrepresented in engineering, but the number has been growing consistently as more women are opting to pursue studies in this field and still there is a lot required to be done to encourage this trend. We would like to dedicate this conference so as to promote and encourage women engineers and motivate young girls to follow their academic interests to a career in engineering. With a view to inspire women engineers, pioneer and successful women achievers in the domains of VLSI design, wireless sensor networks, communication, image/ signal processing, machine learning, and emerging technologies have been identified from across the globe and invited to present their work and address the participants in this women oriented conference. All the keynote speakers, tutorial presenters, session chairs and the members of conference organizing team are women. The conference aspires to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals to showcase innovative and interdisciplinary research findings on practical as well as theoretical advancements in Electronics, Communication and Signal Processing.

Keynote Speakers

Speaker 1

Prof Nilmini Wickramasinghe

Swinburne University of Technology, Australia

Prof Nilmini Wickramasinghe

Diamond is a pervasive mobile chronic disease monitoring solution designed to support patient self-empowerment. Prof. Nilmini will be covering up how such innovative solutions support better management of chronic diseases by focussing on patient empowerment and prudent preventive measures. Key aspects of her research include the socio-technical perspective and patient experience. She will also focus on superior wellness management enabled through applying various technologies.

Prof Maryam Shojaei Baghini

Integrated circuit technology has made it possible to produce chips with several millions of transistors. However, complex circuits are difficult to design and call for special design methodologies. In her talk Prof. Baghini will be discussing about various design changes and the use of design methods that enforce perfect designs. This correctness of the design is of paramount importance for a successful project.

TUTORIALS

Reconfigurable computing

Reconfigurable computing is a computer architecture combining some of the flexibility of software with the high performance of hardware by processing with very flexible high speed computing fabrics like field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Tutorial session by Dr Gayatri Mehta will be covering the system-level interconnection strategies for coarse-grained reconfigurable fabric with focus on the performance and power consumption challenges

Speaker 1

Dr Gayatri Mehta

University of North Texas

Cognitive Radios

Dr Probhjot will conduct a tutorial on Cognitive Radios. Increasing demand for wireless applications has made it difficult to manage limited spectrum. Cognitive radio is a promising solution for increasing spectrum utilization and thereby helps to mitigate spectrum scarcity. This tutorial session will be covering the Need, Capabilities, Standards, Applications and Research Challenges with regard to Cognitive Radio.
