He is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, India, since September 2018. Previously he worked with the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Punjab, India, Jaypee University of Engineering & Technology, Guna, India and BITS-Pilani, Goa Campus, India. He received his Ph.D. degree from IIT Bombay, India, M. Tech. from IIT Delhi, India, and B. Tech. from HBTI Kanpur, India. He has guided several masters and Ph.D. students and has over 13 years of research and teaching experience. He is an active researcher in the field of diffusion and drying of thin film polymeric coatings, process engineering, process modelling & simulation. He has authored ~65 journal papers, 5 books chapters, 5 books, executed one externally funded project of worth Rs 41 Lakhs, and participated in several international and national conferences. He has organized an international Chemical Engineering Conference – 100 Glorious Years of Chemical Engineering & Technology and 3 short-term courses namely Current Industrial Practices in Chemical Engineering, Computational Methods and Analysis for Engineering, and Current and Future Scope of Surface Coatings respectively. Project executed "Drying of Polymer – Polymer – Solvent Coatings: Experimental and Simulation Study" , Rs 41.20910 Lakhs, Funded by SERB , Department of Science & Technology, New Delhi, 20 Feb 2017 to February 19, 2021. Polymeric Sensors Research goals To design the coatings to minimize the residual solvent contents. To measure the depth profile of in multilayer polymeric coating. To study the drying mechanism of polymer – polymer – solvent coatings. To develop the mathematical model to predict the drying in polymer – polymer – solvent coatings. To develop a simplified code for pinch analysis. I want to focus on drying of cross linking polymeric coatings. To investigate the effect of degree of cross linkage, initial solvent content, thickness of coatings, air flows to minimize the residual solvent without any defects. To investigate the non-Fickian drying behavior of polymeric coatings which turn glassy during the course of drying. Diffusion in cross linking polymeric coatings To find better catalyst for renewable hydrogen production. To study the drying of water base coatings. To study the effect of surfactant on solvent removal from the coatings. To study the drying induced phase separation. Controlled release kinetics Formation and characterization of multi-solvent polymeric membranes. |
