Research Interests : “Durability study of concrete under aggressive environment”, “Non-destructive testing of concrete structures”, “Microstructure study of concrete”, “Corrosion monitoring in reinforced concrete structures”, “Sustainable construction materials”.
Brief Research Profile: : I did my Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati specialized in the stream of Infrastructure Engineering and Management (Construction Materials). My doctoral research is primarily focused on the effect of mix parameters including the replacement of cement with supplementary cementitious materials, and exposure environment (simulated chloride and chloride-sulfate solutions) on chloride and sulfate-induced durability problems in reinforced concrete structures. The change in microstructure (by XRD, TGA and FESEM etc.) of concrete exposed to different exposure environments and its effect on durability performance (ingress of aggressive ions and corrosion of embedded steel) of reinforced concrete structure was also focused on in my doctoral research work. Furthermore, an attempted for developing the relationships between ingress and corrosion parameters were also made.
I did my master's (M.Tech.) in 2013 from the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. My master's research was primarily focused on the effect of mix parameters including the replacement of cement with supplementary cementitious materials, heating temperature, and sulfate ion concentration on chloride ingress in concrete. The chloride ingress parameters were measured in terms of the chloride diffusion coefficient. In addition, my research interest lies in the following fields:
1. Mechanical, durability, and microstructure study of concrete
2. Non-destructive testing of concrete structures
3. Corrosion monitoring in reinforced concrete structures
4. Sustainable construction materials
As mentioned in my research interest above, currently I am working in the research areas focused on the use of sustainable construction materials in civil engineering constructions and their durability performance against an aggressive environment. Today, most of the construction in civil engineering is reinforced concrete structures. Therefore, from the sustainability of the construction industry, it would be interesting to identify the durability performance of the reinforced concrete structures made with sustainable construction materials against an aggressive environment.
