Professor Lalit Kumar Awasthi congratulated Professor Vinay Midha for getting NIT Jalandhar’s first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the National Mission on Education through Information Communication Technology through Information Communication Technology Programme along with SWAYAM (Study webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) of Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The course has been assigned to Dr Vinay Midha of the Department of Textile Technology on the topic ‘Nonwoven Technology and Recent Developments’. He will be conducting this course in online mode for the participants throughout the country along with Professor Gajanan Bhat of the University of Georgia, Altlanta, USA, who is expected to be in NIT Jalandhar in December, 2020. Dr. Gajanan Bhat & Dr Vinay Midha have done research in this field and have published several research papers in the field.
Prof. Awasthi told that NIT Jalandhar has already completed 20 GIAN courses assigned by MHRD in different areas of Engineering and Technology and Science, but this is the first MOOC course, which NIT Jalandhar will be floating in December 2020. This is a great achievement for the Institute. The course can be attended by participants from different countries also. The topic of the course is very relevant in the present situation of COVID-19, where the Nonwoven Technologies are being used in PPE kits as well as N95 & surgical masks.
