An expert lecture on "Looking for hydrogen in distant galaxies" was delivered by Prof. Jasjeet Singh Bagla (IISER, Mohali). He discussed about hydrogen spectral lines and the recent work where we have measured the average hydrogen atomic mass in galaxies at intermediate red shifts using upgraded CMRT. He discussed various aspects of astrophysics and emphasized the importance of 21 cm spectrum line of hydrogen from the galaxies. The lecture was very informative and knowledgeable and was attended by whole of the Physics department.
