Physical Science Society celebrated National Science Day on February 28 and March 02-03, 2022. On 28th February, it was conducted in online mode with informative words by our teachers about why we celebrate science day, and what should be our aim as science students. After that, the felicitation of previous members of PSS by the present members and faculty members of the Physics department took place with the introduction of new members.
On the occasion of Science Day, Prof. Dhanvir Singh Rana (IISER-Bhopal) delivered an impressive and knowledgeable talk on "Terahertz Spectroscopy". He discussed all the theoretical and experimental aspects of Terahertz Spectroscopy along with the application of Terahertz Spectroscopy in various fields such as medical imaging, security screening.
2nd March started with the address by our worthy director sir, Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia. He emphasized making Indian scientists renowned for their great contribution to the scientific community worldwide. This was followed by a brief address by Registrar sir, Dr S K Mishra.
It was time for "Physics Mind Fest", a quiz competition where six teams participated enthusiastically. The quiz was very interesting and attracted the attention of everyone. The winners, Gautam Shah(M.Sc. II), Aman Singh Pawaiya(M.Sc. II), Prakhar Jain (M.Sc. I), Vidisha Rana(M.Sc. I) and runners-up, Pratibha Punia(M.Sc. II), Ritik Dalakoti(M.Sc. II), Khushboo Rai (M.Sc. I), Hemraj Kumawat(M.Sc. I) were felicitated by Director Sir and faculty members. It was then followed by science games where the juniors and seniors energetically competed with each other and juniors were welcomed with a hearty win. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing with both mind and tactics. The most memorable part of the day was experimenting with liquid nitrogen by Dr Kiran Singh and PhD scholar, Ms Vaidehi Deshmukh.
The final day began with "Vigyan Ki Gehraiyan", a teaching competition where students presented talks on their favourite physics topics.
The winners, Sansar Chand (Ph.D.), Yash Ahalawat (M.Sc. II), Simran (M.Sc. I) were awarded by the faculty. The last but most fun event was a science documentary on Nicole Tesla's life and works. The celebration culminated with group photos and thanksgiving.
