Tentative Course Programme
The main focus of the STC is to provide the participant with a good experience of "LEARNING BY DOING" through dedicated Lectures and Tutorial sessions. The lectures and Hands-On tutorials will be delivered by eminent Professors from leading Teaching and Research institutes like HRI Allahabad, TIFR, PRL, central universities (Himachal Pradesh, South Bihar) and state universities (Panjab University, Jammu University, Lucknow University).
Day 1
Two Lectures on "Basic Concepts of Neutrino Physics and Neutrino Flavours"
Lecture on "Neutrino Mixing".
Day 2
Lecture on basics of "The Solar & Atmospheric Neutrino Problem"
Lecture on "The Relativistic Kinematics" (about some very important kinematic variables used in the field of high energy physics).
Hands-On Tutorial session on "The Relativistic Kinematics" (calculations related to the kinematical variables.)
Day 3
Lecture on "Neutrino Physics from Dark Matter Perspective"
Lecture on "Neutrinoless double beta decay"
Hands on tutorial on "Basics of Probability and statistics for High Energy Physics"
Day 4
Two lectures on "The Experimental Aspects of Neutrino physics."
Lecture-cum-hands on tutorial on "Statistical Methods in High Energy Physics"
Day 5
Continuation of lecture-cum-hands on tutorial on "Statistical Methods in High Energy Physics"
STC will be concluded with a keynote lecture on "Unresolved Issues in Neutrino Physics (Future Perspective)"
Broad Objectives:
1. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of various theoretical and experimental concepts related to the field of neutrino.
2. How to apply the fundamentals to study the research problems of related fields.
3. Participant will learn about aim of different worldwide experimental facilities of high energy physics.
4. Participant will be provided some hand-on training on the statistics in the field of high energy physics.
We cordially invite you to take advantage of this opportunity by participating/nominating colleagues and Ph.D./postgraduate students from your Department for this short term course.
