Message by Director NITJ
Dear Fellow Colleagues and Students!
A healthy body is a healthy mind.
Health and fitness are two sides of the same coin. Without proper health and fitness, one cannot have a feeling of physical, mental and social wellbeing. It is the common understanding which everyone must follow throughout the life for the wellness of their life and keep body and mind functioning in balance. The fitness cannot be achieved in a single day, one must devote some time every day and hence the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), Govt. of India has initiated the Fit India Campaign 'Fitness Ki Dose, Adha Ghanta Roz'.
I urge you all to take care of your fitness and make it as a part of your lifestyle and also motivate others even during this pandemic situation by taking care of social distance. If we all are fit physically, mentally and emotionally then our society will be healthy and hence the nation. Such fitness is the key to keep India healthy and prosperous. More 'fit' India, more 'hit' India, as quoted by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Sh Narendra Modi ji. He himself is great example of fitness. He keeps himself fit despite following a busy and hectic schedule.
In the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, there’s been a lot of interest in ways to strengthen one’s immune system, and yoga and herbal medicine are going to play a pivotal role in building a first line of defence against the deadly virus. Yoga and herbal medicine are one of the most precious gifts given by the ancient Indian sages to humankind. Yoga enhances our quest for a healthier planet. It has emerged as a force for unity and deepens the bonds of humanity. Whereas herbal medicine involves the medicinal use of plants to treat disease and enhance general health and wellbeing. It aims to return the body to a state of natural balance so that it can heal itself. These two superpowers can strengthen human body to prepare itself to fight any disease. My message to all of you is to follow these practices daily and keep your body healthy naturally. To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear, Buddha(563 BC-483 BC).
While celebrating this campaign, let us also ensure we follow practices like social distancing which will protect our own lives as well as the lives of others. May this campaign also inspire us towards focusing on personal fitness through the year, which would help improve our overall health. As they say, "If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you". Keep challenging yourself to make the changes for a healthier and a fitter individual.
I wish you all a very healthy life.
